On November 1, 2021, the project «OPALYN: small towns - a big story» started as part of the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020

The non-governmental organization «Center of Regional Initiatives of Volhynia» in partnership with the Rivne Village Council and Ruda-Huta commune (Republic of Poland) started the implementation of the project «OPALYN: SMALL SETTLEMENTS - BIG HISTORY», which is being implemented with the financial support of the European Union as part of the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Poland - Belarus - Ukraine 2014-2020 of the European Neighborhood Instrument.

The project aims to increase the tourist attractiveness of rural communities on the Ukrainian-Polish border by better using the common historical heritage.

The implementation of this project will provide an opportunity to revive Opalyn (now the village of Vyshnyvka, Rivne TG) as an object of common historical and cultural heritage within the Polish-Ukrainian border and popularize it for tourist purposes.

The main products of the project will be a joint art and local history festival called "From Antiquity to the Present", master classes for schoolchildren, a cross-border bicycle race, the exhibition "Ukrainian-Polish borderland. Opalyn - we remember and are proud of the historical heritage", preparation of the publication "History of one town. Opalyn" and a practical seminar "Best practices for creating a tourist product in rural communities of Ukraine and Poland".

Implementation of the project activities will be a significant contribution to the preservation of the common historical heritage of the neighboring peoples, the revival of folk crafts of the cross-border region, the enrichment and diversification of cultural life, and the better use of the potential of rural areas for tourist purposes.
