On October 1, 2021, the project "Border Museums - a space for intercultural dialogue" was launched under the Poland-Belarus-Ukraine Cross-Border Cooperation Program 2014-2020. It is implemented by the Volyn Regional Council in partnership with the NGO "Center for Regional Initiatives of Volyn", the Volyn Museum of Local Lore and the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola (Poland).
The project aims to establish contacts between museum institutions in Volyn and Podkarpackie Voivodeship in order to increase their attractiveness and promotion within the Ukrainian-Polish border.
One of the key products of the project will be improving the accessibility of the museum in Lutsk for people with special needs. In this context, the experience of their colleagues from Stalova Volia, who have significant positive developments in the implementation of programs for people with disabilities, will be a good opportunity.
The project envisages holding joint cross-border art events, publishing a catalog of the best exhibits of partner museums, making promotional films, organizing a study trip of museum workers from Volyn to Poland to learn about best practices and experiences. An important component is training activities to increase the competence of museum staff in working with special categories of visitors. With the help of the European Union, they will also repair the exhibition hall of the Volyn Museum of Local Lore and purchase specialized equipment for the demonstration of exhibits.
The project will strengthen the potential of regional museums, as well as promote cultural heritage and historical monuments of the cross-border regions of Ukraine and Poland.
