On July 7-8, 2022, Volyn museum workers made a two-day visit to Poland to participate in training on the accessibility of museums for people with disabilities. The event took place in the city of Stalyova Volya and included two components. The first aimed to gain knowledge and skills in matters of organization of physical accessibility of buildings and adaptation of museum expositions for visitors with disabilities. The second part was devoted to aspects of development and implementation of innovative educational programs for people with disabilities. Experts from Poland specializing in relevant areas were involved in the training.
The training participants gained valuable knowledge about the accessibility of the museum space for people with disabilities and had the opportunity to communicate with Polish colleagues.
As part of their training, Volyn museum workers had the opportunity to visit the local Muzeum COP – Centralny Okręg Przemysłowy. A number of innovations have been introduced here to make the facility as accessible as possible for people with reduced mobility.
