The parish church was built in 1733-1738, according to the project of Paolo Antonio Fontana. Its main founder was Duke Paweł Karol Sanguszko. The church was later renovated many times. The first one was done already in 1792, after the fire. The renovation was financed by the sons of Paweł Karol Sanguszko. Subsequent restorations took place at the end of the 19th and the second half of the 20th century.
The church is a late baroque building, classified as a central-longitudinal type of temple. The value of the temple is determined by its extremely decorative character. Decorative elements in the form of pillars, pilasters, semi-pilasters, entablature, and cornices are located both outside and inside the temple. Particularly picturesque is the two-storey and triple-axis front facade with a pair of towers on the side. It is also decorated with niches where one can find figures of St. Peter and St. Paul.
The awesome architecture of the building is complemented by numerous sculptures (including statues of the Church Fathers), reliefs, polychrome and magnificent furnishings. There are many things in the temple that remind of the Sanguszko family. The tombstone located on the right side of the nave is a place where the hearts of both Paweł Karol Sanguszko and his wife Barbara are kept. The tombstone was funded by the sons of Hieronim Jan and Janusz Modest in 1793. What is more, inside the temple there is a portrait of Duke Paweł Karol Sanguszko dating back to 1756. This is a copy of the portrait made in 1745, the original currently located in the Museum in Tarnów.
Nowadays a Parish Museum operates here which can boast of numerous ancient church items that are of great historic value. One of the most precious is the clergy garment, which was given to the local parish as a gift by Duke Sanguszko.
